“The floral recurring theme in the 2011 collection provided an excuse for reinterpreting the Missonologia universe, with orchids and proteas in an endless variety of geometric patterns,” says Rosita Missoni.

In addition to precise colour-coding, the 11 collection is identified botanically through the orchid and protea. The vibrant allure of a single bloom minutely enhanced. In multiple blooms; a multitude of floral sprays; out-of-focus upholstery patterns; relief-embroidered bouquets; cut-out corollas; intertwining and maxi petals throbbing with colour.

Evocative faux-plain colours create the perfect foil; three-dimensional, closely-set and charged with emotional impact. The mysterious charm of the botanical world blossoms amidst continuous, geometric flashes of the logo in a bid to create ever-new patterns and atmospheres in which the magic of nature challenges geometric symbology. The customary puzzle effect is seen in the visual impact of squares and chevrons, in the boundless use of faux-solids, in chequered interplays and in the brilliant intertwining of shaded Greek key patterns. And stripes? The stripes are never-ending. Their hypnotically infinite flow holds the secret of their inexhaustible energy.

Pairings to be reinvented include a dynamic tartan on a bed amongst the orchids; the intricate sprays of a climber spread across the walls: the embroidery enveloping the gravitational seats; beautiful retro viscose shawls to use as throws or crocheted wool shawls draped over dreamy ottomans.
